The pilot activities envisaged by the European Project TREESURE have been launched within the municipality of Rimini. This research and innovation initiative, co-funded by the European Union, aims to develop and validate new technologies and methodologies for the advanced monitoring of the urban tree population.
The project stems from the growing need to support public authorities and urban green space managers in adopting scientific and technological tools capable of improving knowledge, safety and the resilience of urban trees. This need is becoming increasingly important in a context characterized by the effects of climate change and the rising frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.
The collaboration between Anthea and the international TREESURE partnership represents a significant opportunity to trial innovative solutions applied to the management of urban green spaces. For the project consortium, Anthea is a qualified partner with a particular focus on environmental sustainability, the protection of the tree heritage and technological innovation for the benefit of the local area.
The shared objective of this collaboration is to define and implement an advanced protocol for the biomechanical monitoring of urban trees, with a view to supporting the work of technicians, agronomists and professionals involved in the management of public green spaces. At the same time, the project aims to promote the use of tools and methodologies associated with precision urban forestry, encouraging management approaches based on data analysis, continuous monitoring and the active involvement of stakeholders and the public.
Operational activities are already underway, and members of the public have been able to observe the first surveys and data collection campaigns carried out in the local area by the specialists involved in the project. The results of the trials will contribute to the development of innovative models and tools for the increasingly effective, sustainable and safe management of the urban tree heritage.
Further updates on the project’s activities and results will be shared in the coming months.
