On Thursday 12 March 2026, the Municipality of Cecina will host the public event “Il Verde che Vogliamo” at the Auditorium Altero Matteoli (14:30–18:30), bringing together local authorities, agronomists, forest experts and citizens to discuss the state and future of urban trees in the city . The initiative focuses on participatory pathways for monitoring, maintenance and long-term planning of Cecina’s urban tree heritage, reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility in managing green public spaces.
The programme includes institutional greetings, technical presentations on urban green management, integrated tree stability assessments, root consolidation techniques, and emerging phytosanitary threats . A dedicated session will present the TREESURE project and the ongoing urban tree census in the Municipality of Cecina, led by experts from the University of Florence (DAGRI) and Bluebiloba . This census represents a key step in developing risk-informed urban forest management, combining field surveys with digital tools and satellite data.
The event will conclude with an open debate, encouraging dialogue between institutions, professionals and the local community . By linking scientific expertise with citizen participation, the initiative supports TREESURE’s broader mission: to strengthen coordination, improve early warning capacities, and build safer, more resilient urban forests in the face of climate change.
